Vtech - V.Smile Baby - Disney Baby Pooh Immediately
The only good thing about it is it shows Pooh, my baby instantly recognizes Pooh, but that's the end of it. I'm hoping she'd be more interested in it in the next months since she's only 1.5 y/o.
My advice - don't get an extra cartridge yet because the one that comes with it (LEARN AND DISCOVER HOME) is probably the best. Initially you might be thinking (as I did) that since it comes free with the toy, that it might be boring. NOT THE CASE AT ALL.
The lowest mark is probably the music. It can't attract my baby, it's a little boring. When she's older, I hope she'd take notice of the games. The games are like, really also boring and hard to understand for smaller babies, compared to LEARN AND DISCOVER HOME.Get more detail about Vtech - V.Smile Baby - Disney Baby Pooh.

FUNKEYS CHAT PACK (REWIND) Best Quality
This item is a game module for Radica's game called UB Funkeys. It cannot be used without a UB Funkeys base that plugs into your computer via a USB port. I think the best thing about this game is that the player (young or old) must participate in some activity to earn coins that are then exchanged for goods to enhance one of three rooms that you can then share with other players through the internet. The interaction between players on the internet is very restricted, so I feel comfortable letting even my smallest children play online. To really enjoy the game you should also have access to the internet. Some of the modules allow the player to interact with other players through the internet. When signed on as an administrator you can also get updates and patches from (...) automatically. We have not purchased all of the game modules, but we are enjoying the ones that we have. To help you decide which module's character, activity, and the rewards available I will list the ones we have so you can make the decision for yourselves.
Berger (cow shaped module) allows the player access to "Daydream Oasis." The activity is to build a 21 scoop ice cream cone. The rewards are dairy related furniture, horns to go on your wall, or other dairy related foods.
Drift (speedometer faced module) allows the player to access Drift's Garage in main Funkeys Town. The activity is a pinball game. The possible rewards include traffic cones, different gas containers, tables shaped like the bumpers in the pinball game, and if your real good you can get a free pinball futon.
Duce (devil shaped module) allows the player access to "Magma Gorge." The activity is a skeet shoot with records instead of clay pigeons and a trident instead of a shot gun. The possible rewards are all volcanic in nature accept some couches with exhaust pipes on the side and different colored records to hang on the wall in one of your rooms.
Dyer (peace symbol faced module) allows the player access to "Daydream Oasis." The activity is a Mahjong game that can be played against someone else on the internet or against the computer. The possible rewards include rugs in the shape of the peace sign, smile faces that portray a mood for your wall, tie-dye bean bags, and Mahjong tables.
Glub (fish shaped module) allows the player access to "Kelpy Basin." The activity is a bowling game and the possible rewards include under water speakers, a variety of kelps and anemone beds.
Lucky (rainbow faced module) allows the player access to "Daydream Oasis." The activity is a kind of Soccer kick off challenge. The possible rewards include shamrocks, piles of coins and cauldrons of coins.
Ptep (mummy shaped module) allows the player access to "Nightmare Rift." The activity is to reveal two of a kind items arranged in a pyramid. The rewards include hieroglyph tablets and other Egyptian items.
Rewind (parrot with antenna) allows the player access to "Funkeykey Island." The activity for any of the modules with antenna is a limited chat with other players who are online. The content of the conversation is restricted to set statements that are selected from the menu. The rewards in Rewind's nest on Funjeykey Island is a phone to invite other players to see one of their three rooms and what they have earned to decorate it with, cell phones give you the ability to participate in this limited chat feature, and you can also get an interactive bird and nest to put in one of your rooms. I love my bird and nest.
Snake oiler (has a snake on his helmet) allows the player access to the "Speed Racer Complex" inside Funkeystown. The activity is to drive a race car in a race around bends and obstacles. The rewards are all snake related. He can also access another driver's rewards inside the Royalton complex when the player can buy trophies, display cases of trophies, and game tables.
Sol (sun symbol on the face of this module) allows the player access to "Funkeykey Island." The activity is miniature golf. The rewards include rays of light, tanning beds, hammocks and if you are really good you get a mask that magnifies light so you can explore a dark part of the island.
Sprocket (robot with a sprocket on its tummy) allows the player access to "Nightmare Rift." The activity is boxing than can be played against another player online or against the computer. The rewards include technical plans to sprocket to go on the wall of one of your rooms, metal dogs, metal tables shaped like a sprocket, and benches made of sprockets.
Tiki (shark looking with slit eyes) allows the player access to "Kelpy Basin." The game is breakout. The rewards include torches, masks, gongs, and drums.
Vlurp (vampire shaped module) allows the player access to "Nightmare Rift." The game is a kind of maze where you must collect watering cans and pots. The rewards include gothic windows, coffins, very large trees, goblets and chairs with bat wings, and if you are good at the maze you get a tomatoes plant called Noctomatoe for one of your rooms.
Vroom (red, white and blue with a star on its eye) allows the player access to "Laputa Space Station." The activity is Skeet ball. The rewards include couches with exhaust pipes, star shaped tables, engines, and oil drums.
Waggs (dog shaped module) allows the player access to Waggs University in Funkeystown. The activity is a word scramble (a hard one too). The rewards include anything you might want or not want for your dog.
I hope this helps. I noticed that one of the other gamers said that he bought a module and then erased it and turned it into a flash drive. That is utterly preposterous. These are game module that have Read Only Memory, and cannot be used in any other way. They do make a great game. My children are learning that they cannot have the reward they want unless they earn some coins by playing a game first. The game includes good guys and bad guys and great places to explore. I love it, and I am 41 years old. Even my 5 year old loves it. If you decide to play, drop by my room (I am RacersGarage). Have fun.

Vtech V.Smile V-Motion Active Learning System Get it now!
I have been back and forth on this one for many reasons. At 50 bucks it seemed okay but I just didn't want to start my kid on the video game thing so early, nor did I want to buy something that I would have to keep buying games for, not to mention batteries. I even told granny not to buy one. Well, I happened to be at Goodwill and they had it for 24.99. I know Goodwill in CA doesn't sell toys except for ones donated by places like Target so assumed it wasn't all broken down. I bought it and as soon as I got out the door I realized that yeah it came from Target but it was probably a return and why? At that point I felt I just blew 25 bucks since they don't do returns but store credit. As soon as I got it home I tried it out and it works!!!
It meets my expectations of a kids toy. I am not a high tech parent so I don't have a high tech kid. I agree with people that have said it is hard to pull the game out. I too have to brace myself. I am not going to give it to my child for about another year or two because my child is only two. I do hope it will last him for more than a few months when he finally gets it. I will keep my eye out for games on clearance, but I will not invest in lots of games seeing all the really bad reviews about it not lasting that long.
As far as it being an educational toy, it meets some educational criteria; however, toy companies market so many things as "educational" for parents to buy because everyone banks on people wanting the best for their kids and getting a good "educational" toy is proven to be a hot desire by parents from all backgrounds. I think that if you really want educational games, stick with software like Jump Start, Sesame Street, Knowledge Adventure. Their entire business is based soley on education. Really, the V Motion is nothing but a game for our kids to enjoy and shouldn't kids enjoy themselves? I just think it is a shame that toy companies put out such poor quality toys, force you to buy tons of batteries, or an expensive adapter. Greed is all it is.
I can't say I would recogmend this toy based on all the bad reviews and especially at its regular retail price, but if you can find cheap like I did I would say go for it but just don't buy many games because it sounds like it is bound to stop working unfortunately. It also could be that maybe the ones manufactured later are not having the technical problems.
My child has not been exposed to anything like the Wii or other game systems so this one will be okay but if you have a child that has experienced some of the high tech one then you may want to skip this one because I could see it then being boring.

LeapFrog Zippity High-Energy Learning System Buy Now
This has been one of my best investments for my 3 kids. I am considering buying one more! My kids are very high energy children and they love this. It's a perfect workout that is also very educational for them. Great for the winter months to get them active when it's too cold outside. We live in Wisconsin! This has helped with my 4 year old daughters learning all the way around. My 2 year old is also learning quickly with this. We are using this as a reward for potty training and it's working. My oldest is 9 and has high functional Autism and he plays with it. Has helped him out with some of his learning delays. It's durable for him which is great because he's on the bigger size for his age. One thing I found useful is buying the corded plug in. Will save you on replacing batteries and it's pays for itself after a month. I highly suggest the Zippity! It teaches coordination. Along with other pre school learning. There is 2 levels So it can be even more learning. I love this!Get more detail about LeapFrog Zippity High-Energy Learning System.

Lowest Price Fisher-Price View - Master Discovery Learning Sounds Projector
This is a nice viewmaster, but there aren't any view master disks sold at nearby stores like Target or Walmart. You almost have to purchase them online, and pay for shipping. They are a bit pricey, but for the money, they are almost worth it. My sons loves the African Jungles one. He enjoys it a lot. We use it right before bedtime, in lieu of a read aloud. He is 3 years old and loves the idea of a projector on his bedroom walls. It's great for boys!Get more detail about Fisher-Price View - Master Discovery Learning Sounds Projector.

Cheap Discovery Exclusive High Tech Amazing Money Jar Bank - Green
Quality of the product is great along with design, that I have to give in, but the accuracy of the counter is very bellow my expectations. I had expected that pennies and dimes were confused because of their size similarities, but count a quarter as a dime?? that was simply uncalled for. Buying LeapFrog My First LeapPad Educational Book: I Know My ABCs
This product is not only educational, but fun and creative too. It is geared to the preschool set[3-5 yrs old], but toddlers as young as two or even less [depending on their ability level] may enjoy it too with the assistance of an adult or older sibling.
My First LeapPad "I Know My ABCs" focuses on pre-reading skills, specifically letter identification, letter sounds, shapes, and numbers. There are fun interactive games for each letter of the alphabet and the bright colors and attractive layout together with the creative activities will definitely appeal to young preschoolers. The added bonus - I find it fun too , not boring unlike some other educational systems out there wch makes it a great experience using it with my child. Highly recommended!Get more detail about LeapFrog My First LeapPad Educational Book: I Know My ABCs.

Purchase LeapFrog® Tag Reading System (16 MB)
My 3 year old likes her tag alot, but I've just been convinced to never buy another Tag book again. What's the point, when I can't fit any more book on the measly 16 MB tag reader? If I get another book for her, I'll just have to remove some other book that she likes. No doubt won't be popular half way through a road trip when her favorite book suddenly stops working.

3 Sets of Black Lower Replacement Blades (6 pieces) for the Lama II V4 - Blade B (Qty 6)
I have a Lama V4, and let me tell you these blades are what they are. Standard, stock replacement blades. They are very fragile as they bend heavily when in air. When in flight they "cone" upwards creating several opportunities for blade strikes, and when these blades strike they break.
They work, but there are better options out there. Xtreme blades are one option. Also there is a company named Helitek-RC that sells basic "Hardened white blades" that work very well as well. Both alternatives will help minimize blade breakage. Helitek-RC sells their hardened blades (one set of upper and lowers in each) for 3.50 a package. Xtreme usually goes for around 5 a set of uppers or lowers. They may cost more per-blade, but you get your moneys worth out of either.
These standard blades work. They will get you back in the air, but be ready to go through them like a hot knife through butter, especially if you try to fly outdoors.Get more detail about 3 Sets of Black Lower Replacement Blades (6 pieces) for the Lama II V4 - Blade B (Qty 6).

Deal Or No Deal Electronic Handheld Game Review
Absolutely misleading description! You turn the game on and CANNOT SEE ANYTHING! I thought i got a broken unit, went to Target got another one, returned the one I had and the new one was the same! Different buttons don't function properly on different units, on the first one the DEAL button would not respond. The second one pretty much as soon as I turned on and saw no light on the so-called LCD screen I new the hand-held game is a waste. And what a hassel to return to Amazon! Besides DON'T BUY THIS GAME, DON'T ORDER ON AMAZON. I got another game Tetris and that one just came broken, still trying to return it. IT'S A "NO DEAL" ON THE DEAL!Get more detail about Deal Or No Deal Electronic Handheld Game.

Deluxe TVG Big Buck Hunter Pro Decide Now
My children (8 and 9 yrs old) and my husband all LOVE playing this game. On New Years Eve, a bunch of our adult friends played this for a long time, and everybody had a blast. There are some silly aspects...shooting cow-stealing martians, pappy's moonshine jugs and cow patties...need I say more? The ease of it is wonderful as well as it just plugs into your tv.
The first room we tried to use it in didn't work as the room is tiny. You do need a fair-sized room to complete the calibration correctly.
I would suggest buying this game as it is realtively low cost and fun for the whole family.Get more detail about Deluxe TVG Big Buck Hunter Pro.
Leapster L-Max Learning Game System Right now
We have owned the leapster L-max for over two years now. We bought it when my son was around 5 years old and he still plays with it. It still functions properly and is in good shape. I can't think of another toy that has lasted that long and that still gets used. He plays the games an average of 1-2 times a week, sometimes more, sometimes less. We also bought the charger that goes with it and LOVE IT! Much easier to use than replacing batteries. Low Price Vtech Slide 'N Learn Storybook
I picked this up for my son when he was 12 months old. This is a good toy for developmental stages for babies. At first he just liked to turn the pages because it makes a sound every time you turn the page. A little while later he was able to move the different pieces on each page and finally understood what he was making each item actually do. This was one of the few baby toys we had that he would even touch and at 2.5yrs he will still play with it occasionally. Save Lite Brite TRANSFORMERS Picture Refill Set with 50 Pegs
Great for the price! I bought a Lite Brite Cube along with this for my sister for Christmas and we both had tons of fun playing with it! The only thing is I would recommend buying either two or more of these refill packs or at least another refill pack because the Lite Brite Cube doesn't come with many pegs and 50 extra aren't enough to cover all 4 sides of Lite Brite Cube. If you have the regular flat screen Lite Brite, I'm sure one refill pack is plenty but we found ourselves with extra pegs but none of the colors that we needed. Overall, the Transformer images were very good. You could definitely tell which characters you were creating and they look awesome when they're completed.Get more detail about Lite Brite TRANSFORMERS Picture Refill Set with 50 Pegs.

Buying Star Wars E3 BASIC LIGHTSABER BL01 GREEN
I bought this for my 9 year old son, and he loves it. The lightsaber is durable, it has gotten a lot of usage in lightsaber "battles" with his friends and has held up very well.
This particular model is not electronic and therefore does not have sound effects. If you want sound effects, there are other models available that have that option, though from experience they don't seem to be as durable.

Given that the clickstart mouse is such a nightmare, there is one game on this cartridge that uses the arrow keys and space bar exclusively--which is wonderful for my son who gets easily frustrated with the mouse. The Wacky Funhouse ALONE is worth the price of this cartridge. It is awesome. It's similar to the old Mario Brothers games where they run, hop, jump, and move from level to level avoiding some things while capturing others. My son is under 3 and has mastered this game and loves it. LOVES IT!!Get more detail about Leapfrog Clickstart Educational Software: Learning Carnival.

Where To Buy Fun 2 Learn Computer Cool School Software Kai Lan
My 5 year old GrandDaughter loves her Cool School! She uses it several times a week and has for over a year now. This Kai Lan software is a welcome addition for her. The lack of variety of software titles for the Cool School system is the only drawback.Get more detail about Fun 2 Learn Computer Cool School Software Kai Lan.
Shop For A To Z Electronic
I bought this game as a gift for my 13-year-old nephew and the whole family had fun playing it over and over again. The only downside we discovered was simply the inevitable disagreements between teams as to whether or not an answer should have counted. We fixed that problem by simply discussing the dispute after that turn was over, and if we decided that it shouldn't count, the next time that team went they re-enabled that particular letter by pressing it again at the very start of their next turn. That aside though, it was the source of much laughter and quick-thinking...lots of fun and highly recommended!Get more detail about A To Z Electronic.

Hooked on Phonics Learn to Read Complete Reading Program
One fateful day I asked if anyone in our party could see what some overhead signs said only to have my 4 1/2 yr. old niece turn to me with her hands rebelliously on her hips, saying, "you KNOW I can't read!!" After being chastised by the youngest member of our family I realized we had a problem that no one had picked up on: bright kid was getting frustrated which is never a good thing.
So I picked up Hooked on Phonics and my brother started working with her every night (became part of their nightly routine) and my niece started powering her way into the new world of language which she KNEW existed but hadn't been able to find the doorway to up until that time. Hooked on Phonics is over - they never finished it as she entered school, quickly surpassed her classmates reading level and currently is at a reading level 3-4 grades ahead her class. We certainly got more than our money back on this deal - took a kid that was about to run into trouble (frustration) and opened a doorway into a new world. We love Hooked on Phonics!Get more detail about Hooked on Phonics Learn to Read Complete Reading Program.
Educational Insights Sonic Sleuth Review
My 9 year old wanted this to spy on family conversations. Little hard to use indoors. ALL sounds are picked up in the home. (ex. TV,running water, radio etc.) He is still having fun using it to magnify other noises besides conversation. We are hoping it works better outside in the summer. Goofy boy is hoping to target neighborhood deck conversations. If it works I could have fun with that too!!!Get more detail about Educational Insights Sonic Sleuth.

Chicco Toys Billy Fun Wheels Top Quality
[...]
Rant over.
Billy is a great toy. The steering is a little hard. It uses a metal ball that falls into contacts to turn right or left. The steering is limited turn radius. so you need to use a large room. Other than that the kids love him. He gets pushed by had and remote use. The most fun is when I use the remote and attempt to keep him away from the kids. They love to chase it. It is short lived they want the remote too. Tires are mostly plastic with small gripping rubber bands in the middle.
Overall Billy is a great toy.Get more detail about Chicco Toys Billy Fun Wheels.

LeapFrog Tag Classic Storybook the Cat in the Hat Immediately
The story itself is great, of course. As a TAG book, though, it is a bit lacking in the quizzes and games. Not too much to do except read the book.Get more detail about LeapFrog Tag Classic Storybook the Cat in the Hat.

LeapFrog Leapster and L-Max Recharging System - not for use with Leapster 2 Get it now!
I thought I was addressing the LeapFrog Leapster Recharging System here and not the toy itself, but here's my review of both.
The toy is great. Well made, solid as a rock and age appropriate. My 8 year old daughter, who has the Nintendo DS, constantly tries to sneak the Leapster from my 6 year old son. My 6 year old son has been lusting after the DS, but doesn't yet have the skill set to play it (he's still not reading). So, this game was a Godsend.
The downside of the game is that it comes without so much as an AC/adapter. It runs through batteries waaaaaaaaaay too fast. Noticing the unit has a jack for an AC adapter, I checked Amazon to find one. Surprized that this was only $9.99, I almost bought it but opted to read the reviews first. The reviewers, who noted that unplugging the adapter brought the game down and that a player was confined to the vicinity of a power outlet to benefit from this, steered me away from the adapter and towards this recharging system.
And the reviewers for this recharging system steered me away from the re-seller vending the product through Amazon.
As of September 5, 2009 the Leapster/L-max recharging system was available directly from LeapFrog for $27.99. This included shipping. Walmart was out of stock (at their web site) and their advertised price was $34.99 - the Leap Frog list price.
As to the reseller asking $84.99: if people buy from him, they haven't done their due diligence. I always, ALWAYS! check Amazon first. Then, if the reviews have been good, I'll google the product in question to price and availability elsewhere. 95% of the time Amazon gets the order, but occasionally I find an anamoly like this one. (I average an order per week through Amazon and have been a customer since they opened their virtual doors).
Once again, my thanks to the reviewers who reported better pricing elsewhere.
If you have a Leapster, this item is a money saving necessity! Shame on LeapFrog for not including one with the Leapster in the first place.Get more detail about LeapFrog Leapster and L-Max Recharging System - not for use with Leapster 2.
