I purchased 2 storm launchers which included the battery and charger. Great; I could start flying. There were pre-flight preparations and upgrades to do and breaking in the motors. The first one flew well till the left motor failed. The second one worked but had to fix the rudder which was ajar when I received it.

I have never flown something this big as the original storm launcher. My plan was to fly at lower heights turning and landing. Apply a little throttle and elevator and the storm launcher ascends very high and fast. I panicked because I didn't know how to land it. Easing off the throttle and let it descend was one option or use the rudder to land. The storm launcher did a nose dive because I used too much rudder down from about 30 feet high. Part of the foam cracked and the rudder detached as a result. No real damage. I was lucky this time.

I am fascinated with devices such as the storm launcher's ability to move on land, sea and air. I will upgrade one storm launcher with the defective motor to brush less. It will be costly since there are no parts available. But better then having this unit sitting. Guess I could use it for parts. I'll call Spin master to check. I prefer flying the storm launcher right out of the box. It's less expensive then upgrading. I didn't put enough hours to do an upgrade. I'll have to purchase another storm launcher. Even though both my storm launchers had defects you can't ignore how well it flies - smooth and manageable. This is a great detailed RC Tank. Except for one flaw... It's missing it's seventh rolling wheel! But obviously the company's using the same track system for all thier 1:24th tanks. Examples include the: Leopard, T-90, and M1A2 Abrams. No big deal.

The overall motion and physics are awesome! You can control it in the following ways: Foward, Backward (with a 2x speed boost) left, right, spin, and SUPER SPIN (caution: as the super spin drains battery juice rather quickly!). The tank arrives in a cardboard box wrapped with plastic. After unwrapping the tank it is in it's regular box with great artistic coloring, opening the box reveals the tank, battery, remote control, box of accessories, bag of BB's, target board, and instruction booklets.

The remote is programable and has 6 pre-installed demo programs too. The remote allows you to move the turrent, raise it up and down, and the best part... SHOOTING BB'S! But it includes a safety featurefor airsoft. The Tank has a main airsoft control hatch which can turn the airsoft portion off. So it i great for kids!

The tank has great detailing and operates BETTER than advertised! It has rubber tracks that grip great and allows it to climb obstacles such as: DVD cases, Books, pencils, cell phones, sticks, etc. Optional Detailing is in the accessory box.

Cheapest Motor, 550 Titan, 12-Turn

I ran this motor once in my Traxxas Bandit, and it blew up. I found there's a serious weak point in the copper fingers that hold the brushes. They don't have near enough material thickness to hold the brushes in place, I've had 6 of these motors now, and on every one that's what broke. My gearing is correct according to Traxxas specs, springs aren't set too stiff, but I drive it like I stole it. What good are they if you can't rod on them? I actually took apart a 10.4 volt Hitachi cordless driver. Guess what? Same exact motor minus the Titan 12T sticker. I've ran that motor for a month now, driving it the same as I did with the other motors. And actually the replacement motor for the Hitachi drill is only 2 dollars more from the Hitachi replacement parts website as Traxxas sells their motors for. GO HITACHI, except they're both still made in china, probably by the same exact manufacturer. I don't know what to say...
